Create a short Public Service Announcement (PSA) that inspires our community to start saving water today! You can write a script, act out a scene, sing a song, or create an animation — be creative and inspiring!

What is a Public Service Announcement or PSA?
A PSA is a message meant to raise awareness about a topic and help motivate people to change their attitudes and behavior about that topic. A PSA video is usually 30–60 seconds in length. Your PSA video can be no less than 30 seconds and no more than two minutes.
Winners will receive:
1st place: $100 Amazon Gift Card
2nd place: $75 Amazon Gift Card
3rd place: $50 Amazon Gift Card

Announcement of Winners:
✔ Winners will be announced by the end of the school year.
✔ Parents/Guardian and Teachers will be notified via email.
✔ Winning entries will require a parent consent form in order to claim a prize.
PSA Checklist:
Your video should:
- Explain why we need to conserve water and how we can conserve water.
- Include accurate facts you learned during the Conservation Captains program.
- Be clearly organized and have a logical flow from beginning to ending.
- Capture viewers’ attention by using powerful words, creative dialogue, play-acting, interesting images, music, or sound.
- Persuade viewers to think about their water use and start conserving water today.
- Be no less than 30 seconds and no more than two minutes.
PSA Creation Steps:
- Review your Conservation Captains lessons to gather facts and information.
- Decide on your main message that explains why and how to save water.
- Consider watching a few PSAs online to get an idea of what they are about.
- Write a script or storyboard of your PSA to organize your ideas.
- Determine how you will record your PSA (i.e. Phone, Google Slideshow, etc.).
- Determine where you will record your PSA and gather any necessary supplies.
- Determine if you will need help from a family member or friend for recording.
- Have fun and try out different options to find the best way to capture people’s attention and inspire them to save water.
- Memorize your lines and rehearse before filming so you are ready to succeed and stay within the time constraints (no less than 30 seconds and not more than two minutes).
- Film your video a few times to create your best PSA.
Contest Rules:
- Your parents must complete the verifiable consent form.
- Properly clear and credit the source of any film clips, images, or locations you use.
